Hi everyone,
I have two servers that are physically connected by cable where one is the web server and the other serves the MySQL databases. Currently we serve 12 database driven sites using this setup serving approximately 650k unique visitors total per month and 2.5 million web pages. Server backups cause some slowdown primarily becuase they all occur at the same time for each account. Otherwise this setup runs flawlessly. I pay $750 a month, which is a bit pricey considering the database server is about $500 of that price and never works hard at all. Anyway I see all these specials here on WHM and can’t help but wonder if I can do better for much less. Even perhaps just utilize a single ultra-fast server to hold everything. The webservices could be on one drive, mysql on another and a third drive for the backups. Wouldn’t this partly insure the best performance?
Can one of you server experts suggest a single high-end server that would save me some money?
